Only went to see this movie because my daughter wanted to see it. I didn't like suicide squad so I knew this would be worse and boy was I right. I was ready to leave after the first 10 minutes.

Although Harley Quinn is a villain in the DC world, she's pretty much evolved into an anti hero who is relatable in many ways. She's not perfect and can be an asshole sometimes, but she manages to come off likeable thanks to her one-liners and badassery.
Despite this film having a fun edge to it, there are a lot more serious issues going on. The main villain Sionis is a class A violent misogynist. He takes pleasure in cutting off people's faces, slapping around Harley while she is tied to a chair and horrifically humiliating a random woman who laughs too much at his club. Ewan McGregor wanted to make sure that everyone knew that there was no laughing matter in this guy, as he is epitome of entitled, violent men who take what they want, when they want.
Women are not allowed to be themselves or even do their jobs the way they want. In the cases of Detective Montoya and Black Canary, they are forced to bend to the will of men in order to just simply exist. Harley's immunity from all the people she's wronged goes out the window the moment she and the Joker break up.
Although this was a brilliant film about emancipation, I only wish it would have been a bit more powerful than that, other than breaking bad guys's legs.
I also wished Huntress was featured a little more, as her character was badass and wicked.

At first I was kinda mad because I own the comics and absolutely love it (plus Im a Barbara Gordon fan) and I felt like they had changed this too much and it became the Harley Quinn show. But now I see its not like that. Yes, Harleys the main character, but she doesnt takeover the whole movie. Everyone gets their time to shine. Also, the plot and characters are pretty spot on. I love this movie. As for Barbara, I heard DC is working on a Batgirl movie and maybe itll all come together in Birds of Prey 2! I have high hopes.
